MITACS Globalink Research Internship at Polytechnique de Montréal

I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve been selected for the prestigious MITACS Globalink Research Internship at Polytechnique de Montréal! This incredible opportunity will allow me to work on cutting-edge research in climate data analysis and decision support systems.

Research Focus

During this 3-month internship, I’ll be developing a real-time decision support system that processes and analyzes 20,000+ climate and water datasets across 30 cities. The project aims to improve infrastructure planning and resource management through advanced machine learning and data analytics.

Key Objectives

  • Data Integration: Combining multiple data sources including satellite imagery, weather stations, and IoT sensors
  • Machine Learning: Developing predictive models for climate forecasting and water resource management
  • Real-time Processing: Building scalable systems for live data analysis and decision support
  • User Interface: Creating intuitive dashboards for city planners and environmental scientists

Technical Stack

The project will utilize a modern technology stack including:

  • Frontend: React.js for responsive user interfaces
  • Backend: Node.js for high-performance server-side processing
  • Machine Learning: Python with scikit-learn and TensorFlow
  • Infrastructure: Linux servers with Docker containerization
  • Data Sources: Climate APIs, satellite imagery, and sensor networks

Expected Impact

This research has the potential to significantly improve urban planning and environmental management:

  • 25% improvement in forecast accuracy through advanced ML models
  • 30% increase in planning efficiency for infrastructure development
  • Real-time insights for better decision-making in climate adaptation
  • Scalable solutions that can be applied to cities worldwide
